Five bedders under $500k still exist in Greater Brisbane

9 Janelle Street, Bellbird Park, has five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a three-car garage, a pool and is on a 0.51 hectare site.

Five bedders under $500,000 are not unicorns in Brisbane, with one of the cheapest right now on a lot 10 times the city’s average with a pool — and it’s not the only one.

It’s not hard to find properties under $500,000 in Greater Brisbane — with several suburbs within the magic half-hour or so drive from the CBD experiencing major change amid rising demand for housing.

One of the cheapest five bedders is in an area where the median house price, according to Realestate.com.au, was $377,750 — that is, Bellbird Park in Ipswich on the western end of the Greater Brisbane region.

The property is priced at offers over $475,000, and under a half-hour drive to the city, with agent Jason McNamara of Ipswich Real Estate marketing it at big families looking for “plenty of space”.

Loads of potential out back in the 0.51 hectare site.

The stone tiles have gone the distance, having been all the rage in the 80s.

“Built in the 1980s, it has exposed beams in the lounge and dining rooms. All the rage in the 80s,” was how he described it in the listing.

The walk-in wardrobe in the master suite was “the size of a small bedroom” with a large ensuite as well.

“Further out the back is the rest of the 5000-plus sqm block ready for you to do what you want to it. Plant fruit trees and start your own commune (just an idea).”

Another five bedder priced at $474,000 was at 6 Hillview Street, Springfield, not too far away from the first.

The two bathroom, two car garage house was on a 663sq m block, according to agent Brooke Colledge of Ray White — Browns Plains who listed it as “a perfect home for the growing family”.

Built by Hallmark Homes, it has “four living zones, a spacious rumpus room, a formal dining and separate lounge/living area plus open plan family room that leads onto a covered outdoor entertaining area”.

It also has solar power — which the Bellbird Park five bedder had too.

“This house has everything you would expect in a quality home and of course, being in Springfield offers convenience to everything you need and want.”
