Their city may have one of the world’s most scenic harbours and beaches aplenty but size matters most for Sydneysiders when it comes to their dream home, new data suggests.
A review of online property search habits revealed sprawled out mansions in the upper north shore and Hills area were the most viewed listings this year, with waterfront homes proving less popular.
Taking prime spot as the most viewed Sydney property listing on realestate.com.au data this year was a six-bedroom house on a five acre estate in Dural.
The two-level home is one of the biggest currently up for sale in NSW and includes a gym, stables, conservatory, study and walk-in wardrobes in most of the bedrooms.
It is for sale with a price guide of $7.3 million to $8 million through real estate agent Darren Curtis of Ken Jacobs International Real Estate.
The second most popular individual listing was a nine-bedroom, seven-bathroom home in Somersby in the hinterland of the Central Coast.
The home is also spread across two levels and includes a massive home theatre, two family rooms and a “retreat”. The home sold in July for $4.1 million.
A penthouse above ANZ’s Sydney headquarters described by some as a “sky mansion” was another popular listing, attracting the third highest number of views on realestate.com.au.
It was named the world’s finest residence at the International Design and Architecture awards in 2017.
The home is expected to sell for a price in the realm of about $60 million.
A four-bedroom home at Drummoyne Ave, Drummoyne was the most popular waterfront property for the year and the most viewed property in the inner west. It sold in August.
Rounding out the top five most viewed properties was a six-bedroom house in north shore enclave East Lindfield spread out on nearly 2000sqm of land.
Other popular listings ranked within the top 20 for most views were spread around Dural, Turramurra, Randwick and Hunters Hill.
